ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY (AUP)
Effective Date: August 6, 2025
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the rules and guidelines for the use of River City Wireless's (“RCW”) Internet services. By using RCW’s services, you ("Customer" or "User") agree to comply with this AUP, which is designed to promote the integrity, security, reliability, and privacy of our network and systems.
RCW reserves the right to update this AUP at any time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the most current version.
1. Prohibited Activities
Customers may not use RCW's services to:
a. Illegal Use
- Violate any applicable local, state, federal, or international law or regulation.
- Engage in or promote criminal activities, including but not limited to fraud, trafficking in illegal substances, stolen goods, child pornography, or copyright infringement.
b. Security Violations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, computer system, or network.
- Interfere with or disrupt any network, equipment, or service of RCW or others, including denial-of-service (DoS) attacks, port scans, or network probing.
- Distribute viruses, malware, spyware, or any other malicious code.
c. Network Abuse
- Use excessive bandwidth that negatively impacts other users on the network.
- Run servers or applications that generate traffic beyond residential or business class limits without prior authorization.
- Intentionally disrupt the use of the service for other customers.
d. Spam and Unsolicited Communications
- Send unsolicited bulk or commercial email (spam).
- Harvest or collect email addresses or other personal information without consent.
e. Offensive Content
- Transmit or store any material that is obscene, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or racially or ethnically offensive.
2. Residential vs. Business Use
Residential accounts are intended for personal, non-commercial use only. Use of a residential connection to host servers or provide services to the public is prohibited. Businesses must subscribe to a business-class service.
3. Network Management
RCW reserves the right to:
- Monitor network traffic to maintain performance and security.
- Apply reasonable network management practices to ensure quality of service for all customers.
- Take appropriate action (including suspension or termination of service) if a user violates this AUP.
4. Enforcement
Violations of this AUP may result in:
- Warning notices
- Temporary suspension of service
- Permanent termination of service
- Legal action, if necessary
RCW will determine, at its sole discretion, what constitutes a violation. If illegal activity is suspected, RCW may cooperate with law enforcement.
